tearing as a natural part of birth
Tearing is one of the most common fears surrounding birth, and for good reason. It’s often talked about without context, without physiology, and without acknowledging how adaptable and capable the body actually is. The tissues involved in birth are living, responsive, and designed to stretch. Birth asks a lot of the body, and sometimes tissue opens beyond its usual limits. That doesn’t mean the body failed. It means it responded to powerful, normal forces. My hope with this episode is not to dismiss fear, but to replace it with understanding, because understanding creates calm, and calm supports birth.
